Special Rules Form (SR1)

Attendance Allowance

  • An SR1 form is usually issued when a person is not expected to live longer than 12 months due to their   illness - the aim being you can use this to claim       disability benefit - which for those of State Pension age will be Attendance Allowance, if you are not already claiming any disability benefit.

  • I am already claiming PIP/ DLA or Attendance Allowance - if already claiming the lower rate then you would be entitled to the Higher Rate.  Just call the DWP (the number to use will be found on your Award and Annual Increase Letter) and when they receive the SR1 form they may just increase your payments     automatically as they already hold all your details. You only need to complete a form if they request one.
