Attendance Allowance
What is it and who can claim?
Attendance Allowance
- Attendance Allowance - a benefit for those who due to their disabilities struggle and take longer to undertake 'daily tasks' such as washing, dressing, moving around, on their own, etc. Some people have help from a spouse, partner, child, or friend, or have formal Carers visit to help them.
- Do you need to have formal Carers? - many people have no family support and struggle by themselves. This means everything takes them longer to do, whether this is washing, dressing or just moving around their home, or needing incontinence aids.
- Can I claim if I live in a Care Home? - Yes, but only if you pay 100% of your fees.
- What does this Benefit help to pay for? - extra costs due to disability such as Carers, taxi fares, increased heating costs, water use due to increased laundry, for disability aids such as rollator trolleys, scooters, ear syringing, chiropody, etc.
- Previously rejected for Pension Credit - if your claim for Attendance Allowance is Awarded, we will review if you are now able to apply for Pension Credit, as the Pension Credit rates may increase as a result of the Award.
